3D surface model visualization software Vayu 1.0 released

Many scientific fields, including paleontology, have applied X-ray computed tomography and 3D reconstruction on a large scale with unprecedented accuracy and breadth, and with it, there is a higher demand for the visualization of the generated 3D surface model.

At present, most of the 3D reconstruction and processing software is weak in processing 3D surface models, and the existing 3D surface model software usually does not optimize the biological 3D surface model data accordingly, and there are often difficulties in use, complex operations, and inability to process big data files.

In response to the above problems, in order to improve the visualization effect of fossil and modern biological imaging data, the research team of Lu Jing, Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, independently developed a new free software Vayu 1.0 specially for processing three-dimensional surface models, and introduced the basic functions, operation procedures and related case displays of the software in detail in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. Vayu 1.0 is mainly optimized for the visualization of fossil and modern biological imaging data, and can be widely used in the visualization of 3D surface models and even virtual space interaction in multidisciplinary fields such as paleontology, life sciences, medicine, and archaeology.

According to reports, Vayu 1.0 software provides a complete set of visual tools for editing, rendering, annotation, analysis and other visualization tools for three-dimensional surface models, and comes with VR mode and fast animation production methods, so that users can master the rapid rendering and animation of three-dimensional surface models in the shortest time, providing new tools for the visualization of three-dimensional surface models.

It is reported that Vayu 1.0 also includes a variety of visualization tools such as virtual reality (VR) mode and one-stop animation production platform, which provides new development directions and ideas for 3D surface model rendering and visualization in various fields. In addition, Vayu 1.0 can also provide a wide range of application scenarios in the fields of museum science education and school education.
