Hand in Hand 985! Another high-level shared laboratory platform in China was established

On July 27, the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine, jointly established by Perkin Elmer and the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology, was officially inaugurated. This laboratory platform, which is built at the level of “top domestic and world-class”, is equipped with a variety of cutting-edge scientific research equipment from molecules to cells to animals in the field of life science imaging technology and automation workstations. The Translational Medicine Center of Excellence will be based in Guangdong and radiate south China, providing an innovative and cutting-edge technology platform for life sciences and translational medicine research.

Open sharing, service innovation

It is reported that the Center of Excellence for Translational Medicine is located in the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology, which will be open to the community and shared, not only to serve the scientific research needs of South China University of Technology, but also to serve the frontier exploration of translational medicine in Guangdong and South China. At the unveiling ceremony, He Dongqing, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology, said:

“We are excited to work with Perkin Elmer to create this center of excellence in translational medicine that represents the international advanced level. We believe that this new model of technological leadership will bring more opportunities for scientific research innovation and talent training, and make greater contributions to the research and breakthrough of translational medicine. ”

The Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine is equipped with Perkin Elmer’s many cutting-edge instruments in the field of life science imaging technology, covering detection, imaging and automation workstations from molecules to cells to animals in vivo, including a versatile microplate platform for biomarkers, cytokines, protein interactions, signal pathway detection; Confocal high-content platform for quantitative analysis at the cellular level and micro-tissue level and dynamic process research; Focus on live animal drugs, cell tracing, disease mechanism research of small animal in vivo optical imaging and CT platform.

These cutting-edge equipment can provide automated and intelligent solutions for cell imaging and analysis, small animal in vivo imaging, multifunctional biochemical sample testing and new drug screening, NGS and other fields. The Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine will also be equipped with full-time technical and management personnel to provide laboratory assistance, technical training, application development and other services for researchers.

The combination of medicine and industry promotes transformation

The Center of Excellence for Translational Medicine, jointly established with the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology, is the third shared laboratory platform for translational medicine established by Perkin Elmer after the Basic Medical College of Fudan University and the State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering of the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is also an important measure for Perkin Elmer to serve the South China market more deeply. “Compared with the previous two laboratories, the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine, jointly built with South China Institute of Technology, is larger in scale, and has multiple automation devices in addition to imaging instruments, which can provide high-throughput drug screening technical services for new drug development users; As well as high-throughput library building, high-throughput nucleic acid extraction and quality control services for the NGS field. In addition, the laboratory is equipped with a variety of cell-related technical services. ”

The School of Medicine of South China University of Technology, which is characterized by the combination of medicine and engineering, also has high hopes for the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine. “An important research direction in the construction of the first-level doctoral program of basic medicine in the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology is the visualization of tissue and organ structure and function,” said Professor Xin Xuegang, vice dean of the School of Medicine of South China University of Technology. “For the medical community, at the living level, that is, for a complete living individual (living body), how to non-invasively and dynamically obtain information on changes in tissue and organ function at the level of cells, subcellular cells and even macromolecules is a technical problem that jams the neck.” Precisely in this regard, Perkin Elmer is a leader, with very advanced life science imaging technology and instrumentation. South China Institute of Technology hopes to achieve non-invasive, high-resolution level functional information acquisition through new technologies with the help of Perkin Elmer. This is of great significance for life sciences and translational medicine research. ”

By co-establishing the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine with South China University of Technology, Perkin Elmer hopes to promote the innovative development of chinese medicine with innovative models.
