Nankai University established the Institute of Chinese-style Modernization Development


On November 29th, the inaugural meeting and high-end forum of the Institute of Chinese Modernization Development of Nankai University was held in Nankai University.

It is understood that the “Institute of Chinese-style Modernization Development” of Nankai University is positioned as a physical research institution, with the goal of building a national high-end think tank, undertakes the function of overall management of the whole university’s think tank, and closely focuses on the Chinese characteristics and essential requirements of “Chinese-style modernization” and the key areas and major issues in the process of promoting the development of Chinese-style modernization.

After the establishment of the institute, it will establish a think tank network construction mechanism, a chief expert responsibility mechanism, an open cooperation and sharing mechanism, and a achievement output promotion mechanism, focusing on platform construction, team building and innovation research in key directions such as “Marxism Sinicization Era”, “High-quality Development and Digital Transformation”, “New Development Pattern and Major Productivity Layout of ‘Dual Circulation'”, “Chinese-style Financial Modernization”, “National Security Governance Modernization”, “Social Governance and Common Prosperity”, “Global Governance and New Form of Human Civilization”. It aims to produce landmark and heavyweight consultation and advice achievements that serve the major national strategies by integrating high-quality resources inside and outside the university, and contribute to the construction of an independent knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences and the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country.

In her speech, Chen Yulu, president of Nankai University, said that as a “double first-class” university and a strong university in philosophy and social science tradition, Nankai University should “take the lead and set an example” in the major theoretical and practical innovation research on the issue of Chinese-style modernization.

He pointed out that in the future, the “Institute of Chinese-style Modernization Development” of Nankai University will certainly make tough moves, see the truth, and show practical results in studying and solving major issues that have a bearing on the overall, fundamental, and key issues of the party and the country, answer the questions of China, the world, the people, and the times with practical actions, and demonstrate its responsibility and contribute to Nankai’s strength on the new journey of unswervingly promoting Chinese-style modernization.

At the meeting, Li Zhaoxing, former minister of foreign affairs, Zhao Qizheng, former director of the State Council Information Office, Wang Weiguang, director of the Ethnic and Religious Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and tenured professor of Nankai University, Ma Jiantang, deputy director of the Economic Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and former secretary of the leading party group of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Gong Ke, former president of Nankai University, director of the Academic Committee of Nankai University and former chairman of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, and Zhu Guanglei, former vice president of Nankai University and professor of Zhou Enlai School of Government, focused on academic topics in the process of Chinese-style modernization. Keynote speeches were given on practical topics.

At the same time, the conference also held a roundtable forum around the theme of “comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization”, and Wang Xinsheng, former vice president of Nankai University and professor of the School of Marxism, Liu Bingyan, dean of the Institute of Economic and Social Development of Nankai University, and Wang Xiaohui, professor of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nankai University, former editor-in-chief and vice president of China News Service, gave in-depth explanations and exchanges.
