New research reveals a new mechanism by which toon inhibits the inflammatory body signaling pathway

Recently, the latest research by Kong Lingyi, Luo Jun and others in the School of Chinese Medicine of China Pharmaceutical University found that the deacetyl group GeDunin (DAG) in toon has anti-inflammatory effects and reflects lower toxicity characteristics in actual use. The results were published online April 15 in the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Natural Products.

Limonin is considered to have an active ingredient with anti-inflammatory effect in neem family, especially the gedunin type limonitin has a good anti-inflammatory effect. However, the role of gerdunin-type limonitin in NLRP3-inflammatory body-mediated inflammatory diseases remains to be explored.

In this study, the team found that deacetyl-guttine (DAG) is a gedonin-type limonin in toon with similar anti-inflammatory effects and low toxicity. Further studies have shown that DAG downregulates inflammation-related pathways, inhibits the release of inflammation-related substances, and significantly impairs the interaction of NLRP3 with associated influencing factors.

The research team said that DAG exerts an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the P2X7/NLRP3 signaling pathway, and the study enriches the application of gerdunin-type limonin-based drugs in inflammatory diseases driven by NLRP3 inflammasomes. (Source: China Science Daily Zheng Jinwu)
