On the morning of November 9, the Nobel Laureate Professor Erwin Neher Lecture and the opening ceremony of the 3rd Young Scientists Forum were held in the academic lecture hall on the second floor of the library of Changqing Campus. Niu Hui, Director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Education of Shandong Provincial Health Commission, Zhang Lixiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Li Kejian, President of the University, and Wang Lin, Vice President of the University, attended the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Zhang Lixiang summarized the achievements of the university’s scientific research work in recent years, and put forward three hopes and requirements for young scientific and technological workers: first, those who bear in mind the greatness of the country and bravely shoulder the heavy responsibilities of the times; the second is to promote the integrated development of the “three links” and promote the deep integration of the “four chains”; The third is to carry forward the spirit of scientists and uphold the style of hard work. Zhang Lixiang stressed that all relevant departments should strengthen organized scientific research and enhance their scientific research service capabilities.
On behalf of the Provincial Health Commission, Niu Hui congratulated the successful convening of the 3rd Young Scientists Forum of our university, and encouraged the young scientific and technological workers to shoulder their historical responsibilities, follow the laws of the development of traditional Chinese medicine, enhance the self-confidence of traditional Chinese medicine culture, adhere to the originality of traditional Chinese medicine, inherit the essence, keep integrity and innovation, focus on the frontier of science, be good at discovering and solving new problems, and make due contributions to the construction of a healthy China and a healthy Shandong.
Professor Erwin Neher, Nobel laureate, Director of the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry in Germany, and Director of the Nobel Prize Laboratory of Macau University of Science and Technology, was invited to give a special report on “Synaptic Plasticity: Focus on Presynaptic Mechanisms”, introducing the important role of synaptic plasticity in the nervous system and the research on the presynaptic mechanism of long-term enhancement of LTP. A complete scientific research path from neural networks to neurons, to microstructures and molecular pathways such as synapses and vesicles. The response to the report meeting was enthusiastic, and everyone said that they benefited a lot. In the interactive Q&A session, Professor Erwin Neher gave valuable suggestions on how to improve the scientific research level of young medical scholars: maintain a sense of curiosity, develop the habit of asking and continuing to think about scientific questions, and then solve these scientific problems step by step.
After the report meeting, Li Kejian presented the honorary professor appointment letter to Professor Erwin Neher on behalf of the university. After the opening ceremony, Professor Erwin Neher visited the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and the Shandong Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
At the opening ceremony, Wei Sheng and Chen Zhan, representatives of outstanding young scientists and conveners of the youth innovation team, shared their experiences and experiences in scientific research team building based on their own experiences.
The visit and exchange of Nobel laureates will help the university deepen the cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine between Shandong and Macao, promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, improve the level of academic research and the quality of talent training, and further enhance the international influence of the university.
The Young Scientists Forum has been held for three consecutive years, aiming to build an academic brand, build a platform for young scholars inside and outside the university to communicate and grow together, promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, and promote the construction of a first-class Chinese medicine university in China.
