Professor Xu Ming of Tsinghua University is the chairman of the International Society for Industrial Ecology

Tsinghua News Network, April 29 — At the annual membership meeting of the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) held online, Xu Ming, a professor at the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, officially became the chairman of the International Society for Industrial Ecology for a two-year term. This is the first non-European and American person in the history of the International Society for Industrial Ecology to serve as the chairman.
The International Society for Industrial Ecology was established in 2001 to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of industrial ecology, and promote sustainable development and resource utilization efficiency. The members of the International Society of Industrial Ecology include experts, scholars, engineers, and enterprise representatives in the field of global industrial ecology, and is one of the important international academic organizations in this field. Since its establishment, the International Society for Industrial Ecology has been committed to promoting the research, practice and dissemination of industrial ecology, which has a wide impact on a global scale.

Xu Ming

Ming Xu is mainly engaged in the research of environmental systems engineering and industrial ecology, and is currently the Chair Professor of Carbon Neutrality, the director of the Institute of Environmental Ecology, and the leader of the environmental data science and systems engineering team at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University. He was a professor in the School of Environment and Sustainability and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). He is currently editor-in-chief of the journal Resources, Conservation & Recycling.
