The School of Physics of Jilin University recruits talents at home and abroad



Jilin University is a national key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The school was founded in 1946, listed as a national key university in 1960, became one of the first 22 universities to establish a graduate school in 1984, was the first to pass the approval of the “211 Project” of the State Education Commission in 1995, was listed as a national key construction university of the “985 Project” in 2001, was approved as a school directly managed by the central government in 2004, and was selected as a national first-class university construction university in 2017. 
 
The School of Physics was founded in 1952 by Yu Ruihuan, Zhu Guangya, Gou Qingquan, Wu Shishu, Gao Dingsan and other outstanding physicists of the older generation. In 1985, it was approved to establish the “first batch of physics postdoctoral research mobile stations”; in 2016, the evaluation level in the fourth round of discipline evaluation was A-, ranking 7th in the country; in 2017, it was selected into the national “double first-class” construction discipline list, becoming one of the seven first-class physics disciplines designated by the Ministry of Education. In the six years from 2014 to 2019, he won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award three times and ranked first in the number of physics awards in national universities. 
 
The college consists of four departments, three scientific research centers, two key laboratories and one major national scientific and technological infrastructure in condensed matter physics, applied physics, optoelectronic information science and engineering, and acoustics and microwave physics. The State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials is the key support platform of the College, leading the development of international high-voltage science in several aspects such as high-voltage DAC experimental technology and high-voltage theory; the Key Laboratory of New Battery Physics and Technology of the Ministry of Education is an important support platform for the College, forming a research direction of physical characteristics of energy materials; the Jilin Branch of the National Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure – Comprehensive Extreme Conditions Experimental Device focuses on the development of high-temperature and high-pressure large-volume material preparation and characterization methods. After completion, it will further enhance China’s international status in the field of high-voltage science and promote the development of high-voltage physics; the International Innovation Center for Computational Methods and Software focuses on the development of computing methods and the research and development of scientific software, compiles computing software with independent intellectual property rights, and has become one of the birthplaces of domestic original computing methods and related software platforms; the Theoretical Physics Research Center is China’s earliest talent training base engaged in nuclear theoretical research, and has formed distinctive characteristics in the direction of nuclear multibody theory and quantum hadron dynamics The Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology is the only member of the International Network of Collaborating on the Evaluation of Nuclear Structure and Decay Data.

First, the direction of condensed matter physics:

Second, the optical direction:

(1) Quantum optics and related research directions; 
 
(2) Super-resolution optical imaging and single-molecule fluorescence; 
 
(3) Electroluminescent devices and displays; 
 
(4) Spectroscopy (Raman, femtosecond)

III. Theoretical Physics:

(1) Theory of particle physics and nuclear physics; 
 
(2) Quantum field theory; 
 
(3) String theory and gravitational theory; 
 
(4) High-energy physics theory and experiments; 
 
(5) Astrophysics and cosmology;

IV. Direction of Nuclear Physics:

(1) nuclear structure (nuclear model, nuclear spectroscopy);

(3) Nuclear technology applications and neutron physics; 
 
(4) Nuclear radiation detectors and nuclear electronics;

V. Acoustics:

(1) Geoacoustics and acoustic logging; 
 
(2) Ultrasonic nondestructive testing; 
 
(3) Nonlinear acoustics; 
 
(4) Acoustic materials and room acoustics; 
 
(5) Vibration and noise analysis;

Sixth, the direction of energy physics:

(1) New systems and new materials for secondary batteries; 
 
(2) solar cells (quantum dots, perovskites, thin films); 
 
(3) New materials, electrolytes and catalysts for solid oxide fuel cells; 
 
(4) calculation of energy materials;

Job requirements and introduction policies

The School of Physics of Jilin University implements a pre-appointment-long-term appointment system, and the positions offered are divided into professors, associate professors and assistant professors according to academic level: 
 
(1)Associate ProfessorApplicants need to engage in forward-looking and innovative research at the academic frontier at home and abroad, have achieved landmark research results, have a certain academic status and academic reputation, and have the ability to promote the discipline to catch up and maintain the international advanced level. In principle, the applicant for associate professorship shall not be more than 45 years of age. 
 
(2)Associate ProfessorApplicants are required to engage in innovative research at the academic frontier at home and abroad, and have achieved landmark research results that can make important contributions to the construction of the laboratory. In principle, the applicant for associate professorship shall not be more than 40 years of age. 
 
(3)Associate ProfessorApplicants need to have a solid theoretical foundation and good development potential, and have achieved certain research results. He has a doctorate degree and has good scientific training. In principle, there should be more than two years (inclusive) postdoctoral research experience in well-known universities or research institutions at home and abroad. Applicants for Associate Professorships are not more than 35 years of age. 
 
The school provides internationally competitive annual salaries, settlement subsidies, scientific research start-up funds and doctoral and master’s degree places for various positions.
