The School of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University recruits talents

The School of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University is located in the south campus of The Guangzhou Campus of Sun Yat-sen University, which collects the beauty of mountains and pearls and the enlightened wind of Muling Mountain. The Department of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University was founded in 1924, and in 2015, the Department of Physics was integrated to establish the School of Physics, which now covers secondary disciplines and research directions such as theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics, high-energy physics, quantum physics, soft matter physics, and energy physics. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, the Physics Department of Sun Yat-sen University ranked 7th in the country, and the total number of highly cited papers ranked third in the country.  
The School of Physics has 1 State Key Laboratory (State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technology, jointly built), 1 Key Laboratory of Guangdong Province, 1 Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, 4 University-level Research Institutes/Centers, and Postdoctoral Mobile Stations in Physics; in terms of talent training, the College has a talent training base for the Physics Top-notch Program 2.0 and a national-level physics experimental teaching demonstration center. 1. Subject areas

Facing the academic frontier, facing the major strategic needs of the country, facing the national and regional economic and social development, the school adheres to the principle of “entering the mainstream, standing at the head of the tide, and going out”, deepens the construction of the public scientific research platform for physics and the development layout of the “3+2+3” disciplines, further consolidates the traditional three advantageous disciplines: theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, and optics, promotes two emerging directions with major characteristics: soft matter physics and energy physics, and vigorously develops three key platforms (neutron science research platform, High-resolution near-point particle detection physics platform, ultrafast and strong laser physics platform).

Recruitment subject areas include, but are not limited to:

1. Condensed matter physics: including (but not limited to) neutron scattering physics, high-temperature superconductivity, low-dimensional and surface physics, multiferroic physics, topology and quantum materials, associated electronic systems, spintronics, etc. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in angular-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, transport measurement under extreme conditions, neutron scattering, miaozi spin resonance, and condensed matter research based on advanced light source large scientific devices.
2. Theoretical physics: quantum multibody physics (content sub-multibody entanglement, associated electron systems, cold atom physics, quantum magnetism, etc.), statistical physics and computational physics, particle physics and field theory, quantum information and quantum mechanics foundations, mathematical physics and other emerging disciplines. 
3. Optics: Focus on recruiting (but not limited to) quantum optics, topological optics, imaging optics, ultrafast optics, strong field physics and atsecond lasers, thin-film optics, metamaterial optics, and materials, information, biology, energy-related disciplines.
4. Particle physics and nuclear physics: high-energy physics theory, imagery and experiments (including detector hardware, electronics, computing software and data analysis), etc.).
5. Soft matter physics: talents in the research direction of soft matter physics related to biological macromolecules, cells, neurology and brain science, and talents in research directions related to soft condensed matter theory and experiments.
6. Energy physics: new solar energy utilization and photoelectric conversion material physics, solar cell trap structure and passivation mechanism and its numerical simulation, solar cell new theory and new structure design, high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell, new thin film solar cell material and device physics, spectral conversion materials and theory, nanotechnology and solar cell related interdisciplinary disciplines, etc.
7. Neutron science and technology: basic scientific research of neutron scattering, application research of neutron scattering engineering, research on experimental methods and data processing methods of neutron scattering, related research of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), construction of neutron scattering spectrometer.
8. Ultrafast and strong laser technology: strong field laser physics, femtosecond laser processing, THz generation and application, deep ultraviolet atassecond laser technology and ultrafast dynamics research.
